Shoppers are eager for fresh summer produce to pop up in stores, and especially eager for berries. In fact, blueberries are the premium berry and produce dollar growth leader, commanding a 60% price premium at retail relative to other competitive berries.*
The U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC), a federal agriculture research and promotion program with independent oversight from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), has developed a campaign to drive blueberry sales: Grab a Boost of Blue. In years past, the campaign has resulted in significant purchase intent increase for both fresh and frozen blueberries. Grocery retailers that fully leveraged the Grab a Boost of Blue campaign in 2022 benefitted from fresh blueberry unit sales growth up to +35 points ahead of competitive retailers in their markets.
This year, USHBC has partnered with the Independent Grocers Alliance (IGA) to help members increase blueberry sales by using USHBC's ready-to-download Grab a Boost of Blue campaign turnkey content for promotions. Their Grab a Boost of Blue campaign makes it easy to capture shoppers’ attention with dozens of free images, resources, recipes, ads, social posts and QR codes. Add these assets to your in-store POS, eCommerce ads, social media or email campaigns.
Increase the likelihood of purchase with these enhanced promotional images, available with and without the Grab a Boost of Blue logo, which have proven sales-driving power. All assets are designed for use by any industry or retailer to complement and enhance brand marketing.
This social media post, provided by USHBC, promotes fresh or frozen blueberries for National Smoothie Day on June 21.
By leveraging these free digital resources across online platforms, independent retailers can increase sales of the already-popular blueberry this summer and beyond.
