Support The Purple Leash Project With New Signage

One in three women and one in four men experience some form of domestic abuse in their lifetimes, but only 17% of domestic violence shelters accept pets. In addition, over 70% of women in domestic violence shelters report their abuser threatened, injured, or killed a pet as a means of control. As a result, 48% of domestic abuse survivors delay leaving because they can’t take their pets with them.

The Purple Leash Project wants to change that by helping to make pet-friendly domestic violence shelters more accessible nationwide. By expanding the number of such shelters, survivors of domestic violence and their pets can find safety, support, and healing together.

Nestlé Purina PetCare is launching a fall campaign to raise awareness of the Purple Leash Project and solicit donations for the cause. As part of the campaign, the Independent Grocers Alliance has created two signs for grocers to use in their pet aisle that encourage shoppers to support the cause: an aisle blade and stanchion sign.
